Abstract:
The use of motorcycle in Jakarta increased rapidly in the last ten years. This is due to lack of
sufficient public transport services. The public tried to overcome the congestion problem individually
by using motorcycle. Among the daily users of motorcycles were university students. This paper
dicusses the development of motorcyclist behaviour questionnaire in Indonesian context. Interviews
were conducted to 100 male motorcyclists and 50 female motorcyclists. All respondents were
Tarumanagara University students in Jakarta. The questionnaire consists of 31 statements reflecting
motorcylist behaviour. The statements were the result of of focus group discussion among
researchcers in this topic. Respondents were asked to rate whether they strongly agree (1), agree (2),
disagree (3) or strongly disagree (4) to each statement. The collected data were analyzed using
exploratory factor analysis (EFA).
