Abstract:
This paper studies the use of insulating barriers on
the breakdown voltage of oil gaps upon two type of coconut
oils under AC voltage. A point plane electrode arrangement
connected to a AC transformer is used to find out the breakdown
voltage of a short oil gap. A square shaped solid sample and
a circular shaped solid sample are used to analyze the effect
of using different shaped barrier inside actual high voltage
apparatus. Field values given by three dimensional simulated
model are used to analyze the field distribution inside the oil gap
and its effect over the breakdown voltage.
