Abstract:
Tension free or uniform minimum tension fabric laying is essential in order to
overcome the problems of distortion of garment panels. Some garment factories
use machine laying while others lay manually Even with tension controlling
devices machine laying is not completely successful. In some instances secondary'
problems such as wrinkles occur when attempting to control tension.
In this paper an attempt is made to understand the current machine laying
techniques to control fabric tensions and how the fabric behaves when a tension is
applied. Some experiments were designed to simulate the most simple situations in
the first instance. Special attention must be paid for knitted fabrics when they are
laid. The fabrics must be given some time to relax before they are laid.
