dc.description.abstract | There are many benefits to be reaped by organizations of small and medium size by encouraging and exploiting the motivations non-IT engineering professionals possess for programming applications for day- to-day use. Potential shortcomings that are potentially there with such work by non-IT professionals could well be avoided by training them on a generic methodology for rationally developing and testing such systems. This will promote low-cost applications of even somewhat so-called 'technologically less up-to- date' software and hardware versions commonly available in Sri Lanka. The paper discusses specific case studies of resource scheduling using three separate application development platforms and argues that the approach is applicable to many different contexts in industry in production and process planning. | en_US |
